The Boys and Girls Clubs of Canada Foundation was founded in 1995 to ensure the ability of Boys and Girls Clubs across Canada to play a vital role in building brighter futures for Canadian children and youth for generations to come.
The Foundation is committed to assisting Clubs, Regions and the National Office with building their capacity to serve young people. Each year, the Foundation awards grants to Boys and Girls Clubs and Regional offices across Canada and to the national office on an application basis in support of innovative solutions to community needs, new program initiatives, research and strategic planning, and improvements to facilities and equipment. Since the Foundation began, funds granted to the Boys and Girls Club movement have increased by over 50 percent.
Over the last ten years, the Foundation distributed $4ML while retaining assets of $4ML. Currently, the Foundation is engaged in a major gifts campaign to substantially increase the endowed assets to provide additional annual support. In 2005, a volunteer Campaign Cabinet was formed to help reach the target of raising an additional $6.5ML. The three key areas the increased revenue will be directed towards are: building the capacity of existing clubs, developing new programming to respond to urgent needs and establishing new clubs.
Encouraged by a lead gift of $2.5ML from the R. Howard Webster Foundation, the campaign has secured an additional $1.5 ML from other generous donors. We are grateful for this support and look forward to achieving our goal.
