  1. Create a digital art project on your own OR work in a team of no more than 4 Club members who are interested in working together to get creative, and learn about digital technology. (All team members must be within the same age category).
  2. Create a video Public Service Announcement, no more than 90 seconds in length. Be sure to save all of your work! (We will accept only one submission per individual or team. There is no limit to the number of submissions each Club can enter.) Check out the Digital Ideas section of this site for help getting started.

    The staff at your club can help you with your projects. Ask them about the Cantech Digital Arts Suite: a set of 5 CD-ROMs (Photo Tech, Design Tech, Web Tech, Music Tech, and Movie Tech) we provided to every Club, which will show you step-by-step how to create fun digital art projects. Tech and program support is available from BGCC National Office by contacting Cantech Coordinator, John Jack.
  3. Plan out how you or your team are going to go about creating your project and decide what kind of software, equipment, materials, etc. you’ll need to successfully complete your project. While creating your project keep in mind the following Submission Criteria we’ll be using to evaluate your creations:

Submission Criteria:

All submissions will be evaluated based on these 8 criteria:
  • Expression of theme word (Cyberbullying and/or Online Safety)
  • Innovation and Creativity
  • Good use of technological media
  • Use of original content
  • Level of youth involvement on project - planning and execution
  • Use of original content
  • Overall impression
  • Description of learning and skill development (on submission form)

 

4. Complete your project and send it by mail on a clearly labeled CD-ROM with all required forms provided below:

    To Boys and Girls Clubs of Canada by no later than Friday, June 26th, 2009 at 5:00 p.m. Eastern Standard Time. Submissions received after this date will not be included for evaluation. NO EMAILED SUBMISSIONS WILL BE ACCEPTED. Please check Contest Rules for more information.

Submission Checklist:

You or your team must submit all of the following information in order to be eligible to win the Digital Arts Contest (Check the items off as you complete them):
  • Completed and signed Submission Form
  • Signed Digital Arts Contest Permission/Release form
  • All projects must be submitted by mail on a clearly labeled CD-ROM. (Each project must be on a separate CD-ROM).  NO EMAILED SUBMISSIONS WILL BE ACCEPTED.
    The Digital Arts Contest closes on Friday, June 26th, 2009 at 5:00 p.m. Eastern Standard Time. Submissions received after this date will not be included for evaluation. Please check Contest Rules for more information.
  • Each CD-ROM must be labeled with club name and project title.
  • One good quality colour head-shot photo of each participant included in either print or digital format for promotional use (If submitting a digital image, it must be 5” x 7” at 300 dpi resolution)
