Boys and Girls Clubs of Canada is working with Today's Parent to highlight the poor state of Canadian children's health in the area of Fitness and Healthy Eating, particularly among those children living in disadvantaged communities.

Your support will help make our legislators aware that Canadian parents want more healthy, active after-school programs for kids.

EMAIL SUBJECT LINE: I support getting kids active today to ensure a healthy tomorrow.

Dear (insert MP's name here),

As your constituent, I am concerned about the health and well-being of Canada’s children and youth. In particular, the alarming increase in inactivity and obesity means today’s kids are facing a future with serious risks to their health.

I believe that one of the solutions to this problem is quality after-school programming that promotes healthy living and active play. But more than a quarter of a million children are currently excluded from after-school activities because of low incomes or lack of access.

Boys and Girls Clubs of Canada (BGCC) has presented the federal government with a strong case for investing in affordable, healthy after-school programs that are accessible to all young Canadians. You can find the BGCC position paper at http://www.bgccan.com/upload/bgcc_afterschool.pdf

I strongly support this initiative: Getting more kids active today will help ensure a healthier tomorrow for the next generation.

Sincerely,

(insert your name here)
