The Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Halifax, (formerly East Dartmouth founded in May 1982) is a leading provider of programs to children and youth. On April 1, 2013 the Boys and Girls Club of Cole Harbour and Dartmouth merged with East Dartmouth to forum one entity (Greater Halifax) that supports the healthy physical, educational and social development. Our Mission is to provide a safe, supportive place where children and youth can experience new opportunities, overcome barriers, build positive relationships, and develop confidence and skills for life.
On April 1st 2016, the Boys and Girls Club of Spryfield and the Sackville Boys and Girls Club, merged with the Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Halifax.
The Club operates 6 service sites that supports and develops programs in partnership with each community it serves.
Dedicated, trained staff and volunteers offer after school programs and at other times when children are not in school, in physical recreation, personal growth and more. We help children through every part of the day, from Early Morning drop off and school Breakfast programs, to afterschool care, summer & overnight camps, in-service days.
The Club sites are:
A) East Dartmouth -50 Caledonia Road (East Dartmouth Community Centre)
B) North Dartmouth - 60 Farrell Street
C) Cole Harbour -50 Ritcey Crescent
D) Humber Park Elementary (After School)- 5 Smallwood Avenue
E) Middle Sackville - 45 Connolly Road (Sackville Height Community Center)
F) Spryfield - 11 Aldergrove Drive
The Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Halifax provide After School programs throughout the school year at all 6 Sites. The Club also offers service on In-service days, March Break Day Camps, and Christmas Break Day Camps, Summer Day Camps.
Our Core programs, such as, Torch Club, Youth nights, Games night, Keystone Club, and more are available for only the cost of membership ($10/year September 1 -August 31).
Programs and services may vary from site to site based on need.
Through group activities, we strive to offer children and youth from all economic, cultural, and social backgrounds access to the resources, supports, and opportunities that will enable them to overcome barriers and achieve their positive potential in life.
