Boys and Girls Clubs’ proud heritage of service to young Canadians began in 1900. Today, Boys and Girls Clubs across Canada are playing an important role in the lives of children and youth providing physical activities, academic support, mentorship, healthy meals and snacks and a chance to build positive, lasting relationships, all in a safe, supportive environment.
There are many ways by which supporters can give to Boys and Girls Clubs of Canada and contribute to improving the lives of Canadian children and youth. The information below will help you select the giving method that's right for you.
A recurring monthly gift is a convenient, cost-effective way to make a significant difference
in the lives of young people who most need support. To join our monthly giving program, Champions of Dreams
, simply authorize BGCC to make secure automatic withdrawals, of a set amount each month, from your bank account or credit card.
In doing so, you can take comfort in knowing that your regularly occurring donations will continually be helping young people to achieve their potential
. Consolidated annual tax receipts, representing donations made from the previous year, will be distributed in February via mail according to donor preference. For more information please see our Champions of Dreams Brochure
Your immediate or one-time gift, made online, by fax, mail, or in person will help us meet the immediate needs of kids today. All donations of $20 or more (or if requested) will be promptly acknowledged with a charitable tax receipt which may produce a positive tax benefit for you or your family.
Designating via the United Way
As a Canadian Registered Charity, BGCC can receive gifts designated via your United Way pledge. In acknowledgement of the United Way’s role in administering and acknowledging such gifts, an administration fee will be applied to gifts made through the United Way and designated to another charity, with the costs ranging between $12 per donation to a percentage of the gift. (Please contact your local United Way for further details.)
Information you will need to provide to United Way:
- Charity Name: Boys and Girls Club of Canada
- Charitable Business Number: 130361710RR0001
- Address: 400-2005 Sheppard Ave E., Toronto, ON M2J 5B4
Note: Your local Boys and Girls Club will have a different address and Charitable Business Number.
Gift of Stocks or Securities
A gift of stock or securities is another way to make a significant impact in the lives of kids served by Boys and Girls Clubs, while potentially also producing important tax benefits for the donor(s). By giving via this means, you will pay no tax on capital gain on gifts of stocks, options, bonds, shares in mutual funds or futures that are donated.
You will also receive a charitable tax receipt for the price of sale of the stocks, which can produce a tax benefit for you / your spouse. For more information please see our Letter of Direction for a Gift of Publicly Traded Securities
First Time Donor Super Credit
The First-time Donor’s Super Credit (FDSC) supplements the value of the charitable donations tax credit (CDTC) by 25% on donations made after March 20, 2013, by a first-time donor. As defined by the FDSC program, a first time donor is someone who has not claimed or been allowed charitable donations tax credit(s) after 2007. The FDSC applies gifts made after March 20, 2013, up to a maximum of $1,000, in respect to only one taxation year from 2013 to 2017.
Claims for FDSC can be shared between partners and spouses, with the total combined donation not exceeding $1,000.
Many companies offer matching gift programs. Employees of matching gift companies can donate to BGCC and have their donation impact doubled. Please check with your company’s Human Resources or charitable giving department for clarification on any policies. Canadian corporations that participate in matching gifts can be accessed here.

- In Honour . . . express gratitude and appreciation by making a gift to honour of someone special;
- In Memory . . . remember / pay tribute to those passed on, as a thoughtful way to express your sympathy to their family;
- In Love . . . make your wedding day all the more special with a gift to BGCC that invests in the health, wellbeing and potential of kids and youth, or ask your guests to support BGCC in your honour.
