This summer, Giant Tiger employees took to the pitch for an exciting soccer match with BGC youth!<\/p>\n

The game at BGC East Scarborough was in celebration of the launch of Giant Tiger Giant Steps, a homework support program for children in grades 7 and 8.<\/p>\n

Giant Tiger Giant Steps offers opportunities for young people to complete homework and receive tutoring in a supportive environment. By engaging kids at an earlier age, Club staff can help prepare them for the rigors of high school, and ensure they are well-positioned to meet academic demands. Giant Steps also encourages young people to build relationships with Club staff, their peers, and mentors, and develop communication and leadership skills.<\/p>\n

\u201cAt the East Scarborough Club, 60 children will benefit from improved literacy and numeracy during a critical age\u2014grades seven and eight,\u201d said Ron Rock, the Club\u2019s executive director.<\/p>\n

And thanks to a $150,000 donation from Giant Tiger, 14 BGC across the country will run the Giant Steps program in 2017\/2018.<\/p>\n
