Julie Dabrusin, Member of Parliament for Toronto-Danforth, joined BGC Canada, Public Health Agency of Canada, Corus Entertainment, and Dietitians of Canada at BGC Toronto Kiwanis this April to celebrate Kid Food Nation and launch our national recipe competition.
Kid Food Nation is a national initiative that will help kids and families develop food skills through hands-on experiences related to planning, preparing, and cooking healthy meals and snacks. Aimed at children aged 7 to 12, the program will be delivered at BGC across Canada, and features an online hub where Canadians can find games, videos, recipes, activities, articles, and more.
Kid Food Nation will celebrate Canada’s culinary heritage by featuring regional and Indigenous ingredients and dishes from across the country.
A national recipe competition encourages kid chefs to put their food literacy skills into practice and submit original, healthy, and nutritious recipes, with a chance to win a trip to Ottawa to participate in our gala event.
