Veon is passionate about the heart of human resources – people! She enjoys creating empowering, equitable, inclusive, and brave spaces where everyone can thrive and succeed. She is committed to equipping organizations with the people and structures they need to achieve their human resources and operational goals.
As a Certified Human Resources Professional with the Human Resources Professional Association (HRPA) of Ontario, Veon has over 25 years of successful experience in Human Resources, administration and operational leadership and management. She has worked within the manufacturing, financial, non-profit, and charitable sectors, but her passion has always been working with organizations that impact the community. Veon has extensive experience working with Senior Leaders in developing and implementing strategic human resources initiatives and operational plans, enhancing their organizational capacity, and facilitating change management initiatives.
Before joining BGC Canada, Veon was the first Senior Director of Human Resources & Administration with Youthdale Treatment Centres (a non-profit Children’s Mental Health organization). For nearly six years, she served as a member of the organization’s Executive Team. Veon successfully established and grew the organization’s human resources department, developed and implemented HR systems and programs, and created their first strategic human resources plan and initiatives. She navigated the organization through its first collective bargaining process to successfully obtain a 4-year Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA).
Veon’s love of people sprung from her own family experiences. She and her husband have 4 adult children, 1 grandchild born during the pandemic and a 16-year-old golden tabby. She resides in the GTA, but still calls Chateauguay home.
