Start a Club

Life-changing programs for children and youth.

All local BGC are private, nonprofit community-based agencies that pay annual dues to be members of BGC Canada.

Benefits to membership include:

Clubs are governed by an autonomous, voluntary Board of Directors comprised of local residents. Each BGC secures funding on its own from community, government, and private sources.

To become a BGC Club, organizations must participate in three phases of development:

Community
Review

Deepen your understanding of the needs of your community and how they fit with the BGC model
(3-6 months)

Organization Development

Create a business plan to deliver services, which includes establishing a Board, incorporating, and seeking funding
(6-8 months)

Program
Development

Begin developing your Club’s programs, establish essential policies, and complete any outstanding requirements for membership

Does a Club already exist in your community?

Many of our Clubs utilize service locations—facilities that are owned by third parties, like community organizations, schools, municipalities, housing authorities, etc. These service locations are managed by the local BGC and offer similar programs and services.

BGC Canada acknowledges that our work spans many Territories and Treaty areas and we are grateful for the traditional Knowledge Keepers and Elders who are with us today, those who have gone before us and the youth that continuously inspire us in the work that we do. BGC Canada’s mission statement is to provide safe, supportive places where children and youth can experience new opportunities, overcome barriers, build positive relationships, and develop confidence and skills for life. We recognize that these values are impossible to attain without the ongoing guidance and partnership with Indigenous peoples.
