The well-being of the children, youth, and families we serve, as well as staff and volunteers at our Clubs and on our national team, is our top priority—we are paying close attention to the global outbreak of coronavirus COVID-19 and we will take every precaution to protect our communities.
As echoed by medical professionals across North America, we believe that physical distancing is the most effective preventative measure to protect our communities and slow the spread of COVID-19. We stand with all our Clubs as they work through the complexities of this extraordinary time. As independently governed entities, each Club will make their own decision in consultation with their board of directors and their provincial health authority.
At our national office in Toronto, we are following the Public Health Agency of Canada’s recommendations by working remotely and only attending virtual meetings. Boys and Girls Clubs of Canada travel and events up to May 31 have been cancelled or postponed. All employees have been asked to contact their family doctor or local public health agency if they believe they have been exposed to COVID-19.
We know that communities across the country rely on Boys & Girls Clubs in times of crisis. As we monitor the COVID-19 outbreak, we will continue to provide updates and resources and offer every support we can.
Resources and information are available for our member Clubs here (with member site login).
